Discussion

This spit was excavated in an attempt to define the relationship between east-west aligned ditches 012AD07217 and 012AD00754, at the point where they intersected. This was made more difficult by the fact that an earlier north-south aligned ditch (012AD08016) was also present at this location. The material removed was a medium sandy loam (Munsell colour 10YR 4/3) with 5% chalk inclusions. Both daub and charcoal flecking was noted (and samples of each retained). No distinction between any of the fills was noted at this level.
